The world news this week has left me (us) feeling a bit heavy.
It is hard not to let my imagination run wild with the impending truth that each day we are experiencing exactly what scripture has laid out for us.
A sobering thought, isn't it?
It doesn't matter how I "feel" about it. My feelings can't change the truth, they can only change the way I perceive it.

My heart aches for those in my life that don't share the same perception of truth as we do.
My heart fears for my kids.
My heart fears that I am wasting my one chance here on earth.
Thankfully, the truth speaks louder than the fear.
With the truth there is hope. There is rest. There is strength. There is courage to move forward in a world that can seem overwhelming and hopeless.
All of these thoughts were circulating through conversations in our home and in my head as I went through the past THREE MONTHS of photos. (Yes, three months. I'm pretty sure I have confessed before that I am a photo hoarder/procrastinator/perfectionista whatever you want to call it. I'm convinced that I need a personal assistant to sort through and upload them all. Anyone want to volunteer? I can't pay you in cash but I can make a mean meatball. )
As I relived the past three months in pictures the thoughts of world events seemed to dissipate as I found myself opening presents on Christmas morning, watching Ben get his first haircut, enjoying visits to the zoo with classmates and old neighbors, having lunch in NYC with a lovely soul, laughing at a cheerio stuck to Ben's forehead with boogers oozing out of his nose...and then I came across the photo above.
It was taken on Monday while we were at the beach.
