Persepctive

Yesterday we got some tragic news about one of Jason's teammates. He was in a car accident over the weekend and is paralyzed from the chest down. He will be in surgery today and they are optimistic some sensation and movement will be restored to his mid section.

Exhale
More often than not, tragic news brings a new perspective to our present lives. Maybe this is Gods way of keeping us in check. Maybe it is selfish human nature to view situations only in reference to how they affect us.
Whatever it is, this news has sat like a rock in our stomachs. Justified or not, there has been a lot of whining going on within our four walls and it hasn't all been from the two-year-old. The critical spirit yells, "Suck it up. Quit your belly-aching and get on with it already. At least you can walk." The merciful spirit whispers, "Be gentle with yourself. This is a process. Simply notice the crosses others bear without comparison. Continue carrying yours with humility and gratitude."

And that is where I sit today, somewhere in between. Overwhelmed and sad for Robbie. Grateful for our health. Embarrassed by my complacency. Observing perspectives. Praying for a miracle. Realizing that life can change in an instant. Humbled by His grace. Embracing lessons. Kneeling for strength and direction for all of us as we carry our crosses.
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge..Psalm 62:5-8

Yep. This tragedy really put things into perspective for me, too. Not being able to run because of an injured knee isn't that big of a deal all of sudden. Thank you Lord for all the blessings that we can not see...
