Something tells me that my boys are not huge fans of the new jogging stroller.
Or maybe they are putting on a show because it is Valentine's Day and they want some more chocolate. Is that a smile I see?
Today when I picked Boudreaux up from Mother's morning out, his teachers told me that his bag was full of treats from all of his friends in class. (the little voice in my head says, "Was I supposed to get a classroom full of 12-16 month olds Valentine's Day treats on behalf of my 16 month old son? Is my baby boy looked down upon because his inconsiderate mother didn't pass out treats?)
Call us "un-romantic" but Mr. B and I don't even exchange gifts. So I really didn't think to get treats for Baby Boudreaux's entire class, especially since most of them don't even have all of their teeth yet. But really, it was a thoughtful gesture from these parents and I will do better next time.
At any rate, as you may recall, I gave up sweets for lent. I pre-determined that Valentine's Day, March 2, and another "floating day" are my days to indulge since I maintain my fast even on Sundays. Since today is Valentine's Day, I planned on a nice desert for dinner tonight. Hearing that my son's diaper bag was full of "treats" was an unexpected, but very welcome, surprise.
I know what you are thinking..."How could she eat her son's treats! Especially when she gave none?" Bless his little heart, Baby Boudreaux unfortunately has an allergy to peanuts and therefore could not partake in the consumption of most of his Valentine's Day treats.
For starters, there were the shortbread cookies with almonds in them. The label said they also contained traces of peanuts. So I ate all four cookies.

Second, the Twix bar with all of the ooey-gooey caramel posed as a major choking hazard, even to a little man with all of his teeth, so Mr. B ate it.
Third, the sugar cookie was just plain too sugary, especially right before nap time. Of course if we saved it until after nap time, it wouldn't be as fresh. Therefore Mr. B and I split it.
Fourth, the package of cookie bites contained "Milk, Wheat, and Soy" ingredients which to me, is just way to close to peanuts so I ate them.
Fifth, although the back of these chip/bite/grabz things had no allergies or choking hazards to contend with, the sheer number of bites appeared to be way to much for Baby Boudreaux to stomach so I helped him finish. Here he is enjoying his yummy treat!

Our daycares are panut free zones, so the kids got lots of suckers. A nightmare!!
I didn't include treats with my kids valentines, that would be way too involved.
haha..hilarious! I sent treats and Valentines to school with both Zack & Hunter..for the whole class! But they are older..
K-4 & 1st grade...I don't think I would have sent treats for a 1 year old class..you did nothing wrong and I don't think you have to try and do better next time. Sometimes you have to indulge..glad you enjoyed it.
I can't stop laughing. Way too funny.
